Demographix survey compatibility with iPads and iPhones

23 Mar 2012 — Demographix surveys work fine on iPads and iPhones (and Android phones and tablets), and we are working on developments to make our surveys even better on these increasingly important devices. However, users can optimise their surveys for these environments with the following guidelines:

+ Avoid using survey components that use up bandwidth (such as large graphics) or are unsuitable for small mobile screens (such as wide matrix questions).

+ Split the survey into lots of short pages (with one or two questions on each) so respondents don’t need to do lots of scrolling.

+ Avoid sliders for the moment as you can’t drag the cursor on iPhone/iPad. However, Demographix is developing a new version of our sliders that is in final testing and works perfectly on these. Sliders work OK on Android devices.

+ Avoid including video for the time being, as Flash is not supported by Apple's iPhone/iPad OS (though it is supported by Android). We’re also working on this and will enable embedded video for these devices when standards settle down.

Once a survey is built it’s advisable to test it on an iPhone to check out if the experience is good for respondents and that all of your content is visible. Conditionality and all other features of Demographix surveys should work fine - but if you discover any anomalies, please let us know as soon as possible.
